The Kiani Satu was en route from Cape Town to Gabon but ran into difficulty due a mechanical fault last Thursday. The department’s oil response team boomed up two estuaries on either side of the ship. However, three tons of oil has already leaked into the sea from the German-owned vessel.
This is one of the little Penguins that was washed up on a beach due to the oil leaking from the Kiani Satu. Please be on the lookout for seabirds and penguins on the Southern Cape Coastline.
